Let's Talk

Messages may be exchanged between those members of the ME-CFSCommunity who have established themselves as "Friends". Note: on the upper right hand side of each member's My Page is an a tool to allow you to invite other members to become one of your Friends, thus inviting direct communication between yourselves individually or as a group.
The Send a Message: link automatically appears on the Personal Profile (My Page) of any friends you have established and may be clicked to bring up a Send a Message page on which to write your message.

Look to the bottom right of your screen, when you sign in you'll see the following icons:

If you have not already used Chat, go ahead and click on each icon a couple of times to see what happens.
You'll notice that when you click on the icon with the horizontal bar and diagonal arrow a pop up window appears with the names and photos of the people who are currently online. This window will stay open on your computer as you navigate through the website.

To post a comment or join in a conversation, simply move your cursor over the text box at the bottom of the pop up window and type. Upon completion of your message, hit your Enter button. Those who have the chat room open will instantly see your message.
If you see that someone is online but they are not responding to a message you can click on their name to go to their Profile Page where you can send them a message to open Chat. However, be aware that the Ning software we use for this website seems to be slow remove the "on-line" green status dot when someone has actually signed off.

If you Keep the Chat window open whenever you're on site, you can see and join in, the Chat room.

To have a private Chat with someone online, move your cursor over their name in the pop up window and right click. You'll then be taken to a private Chat room where you and they may communicate privately.

The system has a few flaws but you'll be surprised at how easy and fun it is to use.

A great new feature, you can now enjoy live video communication with up to six other members at one time. All you need is a videocam and microphone (they are usually combined) attached to your computer. That's it! Nothing to buy or subscribe to if you want to join in the fun with us unless you do not now have a videocam on your computer. If not, and you choose to buy one (they start at about $29) you can join in the fun immediately.
Meet your ME-CFSCommunity friends in the Video Chat room and talk away. Your conversations will be seen and heard by others in the community and you may find them joining in the conversation.
We are planning special video events, so keep checking the Video Chat Room or the Main page for special scheduled events.
When no special event is scheduled for the Video Chat Room, contact your ME-CFSCommunity Friends and arrange to meet in the Video Chat Room. Please do not use the Video Chat Room for contacting people who are not members of the ME-CFSCommunity. Please do be considerate of others and limit your use of the Video Chat Room.

Should you want to use video chat outside of the ME-CFSCommunity with your other friends and family, you can download the ooVoo software HERE for free. As a subscriber you get FREE voice and video service with other subscribers and surprisingly low rates when communicating with non-subscribers.

As more and more ME-CFSCommunity members subscribe to the service you will be able to enjoy greater flexibility as well as privacy in you communication with each other.

Are you ready to Video Chat? Click HERE or move your cursor over the Let's Talk navigation link above the blue line at the top of the page and when you see the drop down link for Video Chat, move your cursor over it and click on it.
After the Video Chat room opens on your screen and the ooVoo software loads itself you will see whoever may be already signed in. If the Video Chat room is already occupied by fewer than six people you can sign in and join in the conversation.

Sign into the text box using the name you use on the website, that name will appear above your video image so the others will know who you are. Talk away . . .

If you are unable to sign in, the video chat room is already occupied. Try again later . . .
